Last week, member companies received election ballots to elect the five (5) open board positions. Those elected will serve a two-year term. Members please be sure to submit your election ballot to the PODS Secretary as indicated on the Ballot. Only one ballot is accepted for each member company. PODS at ESRI Petroleum User Group ConferenceThe PODS Association will be co-exhibiting with the PPDM Association at the upcoming ESRI Petroleum User Group Conference at the JW Marriott in Houston on April 3-5. Be sure to stop by the booth to learn about the latest release of the PODS model, version 4.0, as well as information about PPDM. Also, don't forget about the PPDM / PODS Spring Data Management Conference following the ESRI PUG . First Annual PODS User Conference - ReportThank you to Chevron for hosting the first annual first annual PODS User Conference on January 10. We had an excellent turnout of about 75 attendees and a lively open discussion at the end of the meeting. Thanks also to Carl Weisbender and Keith Cote for helping to organize this conference. User presentations including CenterPoint, KinderMorgan, CITGO, Enterprise and Koch are now available at http://www.pods.org/downloads/. Following this first user conference, the PODS Board and Technical Committees met. One of the items approved by the Board was a Second Annual PODS User Conference to coincide with the GITA Oil & Gas Conference the week of September 18. Make plans now to attend. New PODS Web SiteThe new PODS web site is finally up and running. We will continue to make improvements over time, but please visit the new web site and let members of the PODS Board know what you think and please offer suggestions. The next enhancement that we are working on is a PODS member login so that members can download member-only files and documentation. We will let you know when this much-requested enhancement is available. PODS Release v4.0 - For CommentVersion 4.0 of the PODS data model is in the final stages of completion. Within the next few weeks current PODS members will receive a pre-release version of the model for review and comment. Following the review/comment period, the Technical Committee will make any final changes and will release the model for Board approval and final release. PODS 4.0 documentation will be included in this release. Some of the significant changes in PODS 4.0 include new ILI (In-Line Inspection) tables, off-shore tables, enhanced Cathodic Protection tables, NPMS and Texas RRC support, and interoperability improvements. PODS Spatial Implementation CommitteeThe PODS Association is forming a new Spatial Implementation Committee. The objective of the new committee is the development of industry standard PODS-compatible database model(s) or extension(s) that will optionally enable the PODS database to utilize proprietary spatial database technologies to improve integration with GIS.
