PODS 5.0 Final ReleaseThe Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Technical Committee and Board of Directors have formally approved PODS 5.0 for Final Release. The most significant change in the model is the completion of the transition from the use of numeric EVENT_IDs to non-numeric EVENT GUIDs. The transition to GUID primary keys has been planned and implemented as a phased approach. The PODS 4.0 model provided the means to make this transition and PODS 5.0 is the completion of the process. Since GUIDs are new to many members, the Association is making special effort to provide support and continued evaluation on how they are best utilized. Oracle and two long time PODS members have graciously volunteered to engage in testing based on criteria set forth by the PODS Technical Committee. We expect the bulk of this evaluation, and identification of opportunities for enhancements (if any), to be completed in the 1st or 2nd quarters of 2010.
