NACE and PODS sign agreement for Joint Standards/Report DevelopmentMarch 10, 2011
The PODS Association, a not-for-profit pipeline industry association with the specific mandate of developing and maintaining the PODS Data Model and pipeline data storage and interchange standards, and NACE International, the leader in the corrosion engineering and science community recognized around the world as the premier authority for corrosion control solutions, have signed an agreement for NACE/PODS Joint Standard/Report Development.
The agreement provides the framework for NACE and PODS to jointly promulgate Standards and Reports with other organizations for the benefit of industry and each organization. These voluntary consensus Standards and Reports, in the area of pipeline data, will be approved through each organization's consensus approval process using a joint task group.
Initially, PODS and NACE plan to jointly develop the Report NACE/PODS Publication 1E100, Symbols for Cathodic Protection.
PODS and NACE have previously developed the NACE/PODS External Corrosion Direct Assessment Data Interchange Standard under a similar agreement.
