Gas Distribution Model
Announcing the PODS GDM Work Group

The PODS Board recognizes the significant overlap between the PODS Association's Mission Statement and the objectives set forth by Gas Technology Institute (GTI) in developing the Gas Distribution Model (GDM).  PODS and GTI have come to an agreement on how best to proceed in further development of the GDM, and GTI has assigned the Intellectual Property (IP) of the GDM to the PODS Association.

"The pipeline industry will be best served by a proven, robust, pipeline data model, which supports all pipeline assets equally well, from wellhead to burner tip" states Janet Sinclair, PODS Executive Director.

The PODS Association has formed the PODS GDM Work Group which includes GTI, and is open to other companies interested in the GDM, both PODS members and non-member companies.  The Work Group will work towards the following initial objectives:

  • Provide a recommendation regarding the feasibility, effort, and benefit of incorporating some or all of the GDM into the PODS Pipeline Data Model.
  • Proof-of-concept testing, completion of documentation, and further data modeling efforts to align and integrate the GDM into the PODS Pipeline Data Model.
The first meeting of the PODS GDM Work Group is planned for December 8, 2011.  Interested parties should contact Janet Sinclair to join the PODS GDM Work Group.
